Laura Pearson

Laura has had the best of both worlds, living and
working in the Washington area, and traveling abroad as the wife of a
diplomat. She has enjoyed being able to experience many different
cultures: from Morocco to Mexico and Switzerland to Saudi Arabia. While
overseas she has pursued her avid interest in photography, documenting
the people she has met and the places she has been.
Having been keen about photography from the age of
twelve, she has tried many different avenues including architectural
photography, photographing art work, and capturing students in classes
for school publications. She has also taught high school photography at
several international schools.
Her first and foremost love, however,
is portraiture, which she studied at art school while taking classes in
drawing, painting and sculpture. Her major was in sculpture at the
Penna. Academy of Fine Arts. Her education has been a work in progress
as she has continued courses at the Corcoran, the Smithsonian, Glen Echo
and at the Art Students League in N.Y.
Laura began wedding photography in 1998 after returning
from Paris. It has proved an exciting extension of her portrait work and
her fine art training. She especially enjoys capturing the intimacy of
the bride getting ready, the camaraderie of the bridesmaids and the
general happiness of the event. She uses her art training to find beauty
in the details of the wedding: the rings, the design of the dress, the
flowers, and the cake.
What sets Laura apart from other photographers is her
ability and willingness to listen to the unique needs of each individual
bride. She is warm and reassuring, and her ever-present smile is a
testament to her love for her work. Laura brings experience, artistry
and a positive attitude to a wedding.
